Arati awarded for undergraduate research poster

At the 2026 Undergraduate Research Symposium at UBCO, our summer research assistants, Axel and Arati, gave a poster presentation of the results of their respective projects!

Axel conducted their research, titled Afforestation and the Water Cycle: Exploring Throughfall in a Tree Plantation, in Sault Ste. Marie, Northern Ontario at our Thessalon plantation site with Danielle.

Arati spent the summer between Kelowna and Upper Penticton Creek, BC carrying out their research project titled Mature Trees Are the Thirstiest: Tree Stand Age Influences Water Stress in Lodgepole Pines.
Arati received the award for the most accessible poster, which is awarded to the student/poster that best communicates their research to incoming undergraduate students and the general public.
Congratulations to Axel and Arati! We are very proud of their hard work in the lab and in the field this summer!
